Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough

Half-arsed karaoke jam.

Single Review by Johnny Langlands | 11 May 2007
Single title: Your Loe Alone is Not Enough
Artist: Manic Street Preachers
Label: Columbia

Even if the majestic 1985 was recent enough evidence to suggest that the Manics can still carry off anthemic when the mood suits them, any redeeming qualities that Your Love Alone Is Not Enough might have are called into question when Nicky Wire halts James Dean Bradfield and Cardigans' Nina Persson in their tracks with a few awkwardly off key bars. Although an uplifting track with soaring harmonies, to be sure, there's still a heavy feeling that somewhere, in a parallel universe, these three are delivering so much more than this half-arsed karaoke jam: "it's not enough, not enough, not enuh-huh-huff." [Johnny Langlands]

Release date: 30 April.

Manic Street Preachers play Barrowlands, Glasgow on 14 May and Rockness, Inverness on 10 June.
