Graham Coxon - You & I

The most grown-up single he's done? Maybe, but never fear, it's still got its scruffy edges

Single Review by Melissa Thomson | 15 Jul 2006

The broody, gun slinging Bob Dylan drawl alone could throw any keen fox off the scent, but as the chorus throws it hands up in glee it becomes clear we are witnessing the arrival of a fitter, happier Graham Coxon. The tra-la-la ending smells sweetly of the sixties, but the darker lyrics; "Look to the sky, gotta decide if we're gonna see tomorrow" give the track a tender wariness. The most grown-up single he's done? Maybe, but never fear, it's still got its untidy edges. You'll never take the scruffiness out of this boy, thank god. [Melissa Thomson]
