Gossip - Listen Up! Single Review by Melissa Thompson

Featuring Beth Ditto's sizzling bluesy vocals and the punk energy of ESG, the results on record should be as liberating as Gossip's live shows. Instead the stripped down arrangement of able-fingered bass guitar, real-life funk drumming and occasional scuzzy guitars screams "Help! I need electric sounds, a remix, some depth to match that voice!" Some comfort in purchasing comes from the fact that the remixes by JD Twitch and MSTRKFT do exactly that, and let it all out. Someone should tell these guys that if you really want to be an electro band it's okay, just be an electro band. [Melissa Thomson]
