Emma Pollock - Adrenaline

All in all, an underwhelming introduction to Emma Pollock.

Single Review by Finbarr Bermingham | 10 Jul 2007
Single title: Adrenaline
Artist: Emma Pollock
Label: 4AD
Being such an influential figure in the Scottish music scene, it's surprising that this is Emma Pollock's debut solo release. Furthermore, it's a strange choice for a first single. It's a little too breezy to trouble your thoughts for a sustained post-listening period, it lacks any real hook or distinguishing feature and is completely outshone by the flip side, A Glorious Day, which is a comely folk effort with lyrics by poet Brendan Cleary. Adrenaline lacks exactly that, a burst of energy to separate it from anything else available. All in all, an underwhelming introduction to Emma Pollock. [Finbarr Bermingham]
