dEUS - What We Talk About (When We Talk About Love) E.P.(V2)

makes you dream about a lush August evening where cigarette-smoke streams through the window and the wine-bottles are half empty

Single title: What We Talk About
Artist: dEUS
A good decade after dEUS proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Belgium could export more than genetically modified beef, the quintet returned late last year with a cult-status that few bands can compete with. Although What We Talk About..., the second single from 'Pocket Revolution' might not quite be spectacular nor interesting enough to live up to their reputation, it's pleasant and displays the sound of musicians ageing and maturing with grace. Male and female vocals simmer seductively through the speakers to a beat of modest lounge-adapted lo-fi rock that makes you dream about a lush August evening where cigarette-smoke streams through the window and the wine-bottles are half empty. Nothing to last forever, but for the moment it works just fine. [Chris Nordeng]
