Coldplay - Life in Technicolor II

Single Review by Jason Morton | 26 Jan 2009
Single title: Life in Technicolor II
Artist: Coldplay
Label: Parlophone
Release date: 2 Feb

Unless you've only recently been unearthed, you’re already well acquainted with Coldplay. But the blunt chances are that Life in Technicolor II won’t do much to dissuade your opinion on their music, no matter which side of the fence you’re on. The band still plays ho-hum pop rock – in this case an acoustic rhythm with atmospheric electric overlays and some token piano tinkling – and Chris Martin still sounds like Bono falling down stairs. Coldplay isn’t the kind of band that needs to release singles, but fans will appreciate the promised B-side, the unreleased Goldrush. Non-fans will bemoan that the group still has forthcoming material from the Viva La Vida sessions. [Jason Morton]

Coldplay play Hampden Park, Glasgow on 16 Sep.
