Battle - The Longest Time

Falling somewhere between The Cure and Bloc Party.

Single Review by Barry Jackson | 10 Jun 2007
Single title: The Longest Time
Artist: Battle
Label: Transgressive
To put it mildly, institutional religion isn't the most popular lyrical subject for most of today's indie rock bands. But the passion with which Battle's (NB Not Battles) Jason Bavanandan articulates his constant struggle with his own beliefs would make even the most devoutly a-religious and apathetic amongst us sit up and take stock: "How long have I been living in limbo?" he growls, to a guitar howl that sounds as conflicted as he does. Falling somewhere between The Cure and Bloc Party, The Longest Time whets the appetite nicely before the debut LP to follow this year. [Barry Jackson]

Release Date: June 11.
