Single title: Room 39 : EP
Artist: Room 39
Label: Self-released
Release date: Out Now

The debut EP from Glasgow trio Room 39 is a pleasant surprise, vastly transcending the kind of pub band fodder their name might suggest. Built on a foundation of sweet, sun-kissed harmonies and rich, resonant layers of guitar - heavily influenced by the psychedelic sounds of 60's rock and folk, as well as elements of the likes of The Smiths and Echo And The Bunnymen - these five tracks sound remarkably mature given the band's seemingly minimal experience. The DIY production job is equally accomplished too, with the exception of the drums occasionally sounding like they've been hammered out on a beat-up Casio. Apart from that, not an awful lot can be said to fault this as a first effort.
