Max Cooper - Amalgamations EP
These two extended tracks draw variously upon orchestral and electronic sounds as Max Cooper blends patterns and rhythms which exhibit his mathematical approach to structure. Third, a remix of a Hiatus track, has a glitch sound resembling the likes of Boards of Canada and Autechre which drifts like a soft, celtic trance. The original’s reflective atmosphere is maintained despite the bass which cuts through the orchestral elements and the abrupt splicing which exaggerates and distorts the soulful piano.
Contrastingly, Careless dispenses with the strings for a darker mood with more prominent dancefloor tendencies and a darker overall audio aesthetic. With a distinctive heartbeat-like sound at it’s core, this has parallels with the likes of Toni Lionni and The Prosumer.
