Various - ShockRock

Down on Yourself' rocks, but this is countered by an inferior version of 'NY Excuse'

Album Review by Josh Wilson | 10 Feb 2007
Album title: ShockRock
Artist: Various
Label: Wall of Sound
Within this shiny disc, Wall of Sound have compiled a varied collection of indie synth-rock riffage, or shockrock. There are fifteen artists ranging from the well known likes of Soulwax, to the less well known Zoot Woman. There is a good mix of tunes here, every track is solid, though some more so than others ('Your Love' is awesome, but this is countered by a horribly inferior version of 'NY Excuse'). Overall, Shockrock is a great option for anyone looking to expand their electro horizons, or to get a friend interested. Just don't expect to be blown away. [Josh Morris]
Release Date: Out now.
