The Libertines - Time For Heroes

Best of' is a little misguided, Time For Heroes is like a 'most of'.

Album title: Time For Heroes
Artist: The Libertines
Label: Rough Trade
With the disappointing second album from Babyshambles and his pointless paparazzi baiting, Pete Doherty has fallen far from grace. What better juncture, then, to release Time For Heroes, a best of album collecting his work with The Libertines, the now-scattered boys from Albion who saved British rock and showed The Strokes a thing or two on dressing well. The media focused on band members more than their music, perhaps because there only were two released albums. Maybe a 'best of' is a little misguided: Time For Heroes is more like a 'most of'. Collected here are the obvious radio hits, Can't Stand Me Now and Don't Look Back Into The Sun, along with a few live favourites and uncollected singles. For those with both Libertines albums, this collection doesn't warrant purchase, but for newcomers this is a fine introduction to a band whose music is often overshadowed by their legacy. [Hamza K]
