Music for the internet generation. This really should be circulated on teenage MySpaces, where I'd never have to listen to it. To be fair the industro-rock instrumentals are fun enough, if bloody superficial, but Izzie Voodoo's vocals lack any defining quality other than vacuousness. Neat 17 exemplifies The Push's overall sound: there's edgy industrial synths, whispered vocals and gothy theatricality, but there's a total absence of anything dynamic or punchy. It's how Garbage would sound if Shirley Manson was a well-adjusted, middle-class teenager from Tunbridge Wells. It's clear the band have stage presence, but the studio treatment seems to have exorcised all energy, leaving The Push about as dangerous as Natasha Bedingfield.
