Five O'Clock Heroes - Bend to the Breaks

40 minutes and 21 seconds of catchy and well crafted if not exactly life changing pop songs.

Album title: Bend to the Breaks
Artist: Five O'Clock Heroes
Label: Glaze
Many of the tracks on this transatlantic quartet's debut will be familiar. For some this will be because they have witnessed one of the band's numerous UK shows. For others this sense of deja vu may arise from Five O'Clock Heroes wearing their references firmly on their sleeve. New York based, they owe a lot to the city's musical heritage although their British influences also make themselves heard. Ostensibly a record about girls, each song hinges on singalong choruses and infectious melodies. 40 minutes and 21 seconds of catchy and well crafted - if not exactly life changing - pop songs. See them live and dance like you're at a Fratellis gig. [Tali Burgess]
