Great Scots: 2019 in Scottish Music

Continuing the tradition we launched in 2017, we've pulled together a playlist of some of the best music to come out of Scotland in 2019 – 91 songs to hopefully whet your appetite for Scottish music in 2020

At the end of November we celebrated our Top Ten Scottish Albums of the Year, but as is always the way, the amount of top quality music coming out of Scotland year on year needs recognition beyond just the top ten albums. With that in mind, we've pulled together another thick list for 2019 featuring tracks from those top ten records, plus 81 others, making 91 songs in total, a neat flip of 2019, with hopefully something new for you to discover and something new for you to fall in love with.

Tracks featured are from artists we've interviewed or reviewed in 2019, to tracks and videos we've been honoured to premiere, via a few sneaky tracks from artists who have played Skinny-curated stages at the likes of Kelburn Garden Party and Leith Late throughout the year. There's also just some stuff in there that we've not managed to cover but have quite enjoyed, from the likes of HYYTS, CHLOBOCOP and Swim School, who we think have an incredibly bright future.

Across a multitude of genres, our Great Scots 2019 playlist also includes brilliant tunes from Andrew Wasylyk, Bossy Love, Broken Chanter, Cloth, Current Affairs, D R I F T, Edwin Organ, Free Love, Goodnight Louisa, Human Don't Be Angry, Joesef, Kathryn Joseph, Kohla, Lewis Capaldi (obvs), Lizabett Russo, Magpie Blue, Maranta, OK Button, Pictish Trail, Romeo Taylor, Sacred Paws, S-Type, Slime City, TNGHT, Tzusan, Wuh Oh and loads more. We suggest you pop it on shuffle and get ready to celebrate our 2019 Great Scots; we're not saying you'll love everything, but we guarantee you'll find something new to love!

Needless to say it's been another great year for Scottish music and we're honoured to have had all these tunes soundtrack our 2019. Please join us in raising a glass to the hardworking artists who have put out top quality music in 2019 and good luck for a new decade.
