Fist City's tour playlist - Guest Selector

On the eve of a UK tour, Fist City drummer Ryan Grieve tips his hat to a handful of influences and tracks "conducive to a good time"...

Feature by Ryan Grieve | 29 Oct 2015

"The UK is responsible for so many of our favourite punk/post-punk bands. The Fall, Soft Boys, The Adverts, Swell Maps, The Nerves, Television Personalities, to name a few. We’ve actually just put out a flexi single of a cover of the Mekons' Where Were You.

"Sleaford Mods are an evolutionary adaptation of that scene in my opinion; brash and intelligent, unforgettably poppy and dissonant. It’s amazing to see a band like that getting so much deserved attention right now.

"The other tracks are just conducive to a good time and come on a lot when we are hanging out. We love our dream pop."

Fist City play a series of gigs across the UK next week – get the full details below, and read our in-depth interview with guitarist Evan van Reekum on the changing face of punk, and the band's new album Everything Is A Mess.

Ryan's playlist in full: Ultimate Painting by Ultimate Painting, So It Goes by Nick Lowe, Tied Up in Nottz by Sleaford Mods, Central Park Blues by Ultimate Painting, You're Not Good Enough by Blood Orange, Figure 8 by FKA twigs, Totally Wired by The Fall, Gary Gilmore's Eyes by The Adverts, Easy Easy by King Krule, I Wanna Destroy You by The Soft Boys, Rain or Shine by Young Fathers.
