On the Road: Kid Canaveral's US Tour Diary

So here we are. Kid Canaveral have finally made it across the Atlantic. It's been a bloody mental four months. We were asked to play at SxSW 2011 in late November, and since then neither myself nor Kate have slept properly due to sending and responding to a stupid amount of e-mails, filling out Funding and Visa applications (I'm sure at least some of you have seen the trouble Dan Withered Hand has been having. He made it, though. Hurray!), and generally trying to sort out enough shows and meetings to make it worthwhile for us coming across to the states, all the while keeping up the day jobs and trying to give off an air of "Of course I've not been up until 3am answering e-mails because of the time difference!" We're doing some shows in New York City and then heading to Austin for SxSW. As well as our own gigs in Texas, we'll be doing three shows as King Creosote's backing band. Which is also rather exciting. Kid Creosote? King Canaveral? Hmm.

It's all very exciting. Trying to work on being more nonchalant about it, but failing miserably and laughing maniacally every now and again.

The Skinny have asked us to share our Stateside experiences with them (and you) via a wee blog here and there. We'll be sending some photos and videos for all of y'all too. I'm currently staring at my breakfast that has just arrived. We've become temporary regulars at Cup and Saucer diner on the corner Canal and Elridge in the Lower East Side of Manhattan (aye, I know...get us) and I'm staring at some pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. Now I'm not saying I'm not enjoying writing this... but I'm sure you understand...I'll leave you with our run of US shows.
