Thurston Moore's Twilight preview new album, announce split

Before the word became irrevocably tainted by its association with sparkling pseudo-vampires, Twilight was the name of an incredible black metal supergroup, made up of musicians from cult metal bands Draugr, Krieg, Leviathan, Nachtmystium and Xasthur, and later Isis. In 2012, their lineup expanded to accomodate Sonic Youth co-founder Thurston Moore, who comented at the time: "We're not coming together to make music. We're joining forces to destroy all rational thought."

It seems that approach proved more successful than even Moore could imagine- on the eve of their release of new album III: Beneath Trident's Tomb, due out 17 March, the band have announced they will part ways. The current lineup features Stavros Giannopoulos (of Atlas Moth), Wrest (aka Leviathan), and N. Imperial (of Krieg), alongside Moore, as well as producer Sanford Parker. Former member Blake Judd (Nachtmystium) does not feature on the record, following a spate of legal trouble in 2013. Lungs is the first track from the album to be revealed.
