The Scottish Album of the Year Award, aka The SAY Award, is back for its 11th edition, and the window is now open for artists, bands, labels and music-lovers to submit their favourite Scottish albums from the past year for consideration.

In the first stage in The SAY Award process, any album released by a Scottish artist between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2022 can be put forward for consideration. Artists and bands are eligible if at least 50% of the band were born in Scotland, or have made their creative base in Scotland for the past two years; albums are eligible if they are over 30 minutes in length and/or contain six or more tracks.

The winner of The SAY Award 2022 will receive a £20,000 first prize and join a winners' list that includes NOVA, Young Fathers, Auntie Flo, Sacred Paws, Anna Meredith, Kathryn Joseph and 2021 winners Mogwai. Nine runners-up will receive £1,000.

Two more prizes also return to The SAY Award for 2022. The Sound of Young Scotland Award goes to an artist under the age of 25, with a funding package worth £5,000 going towards the production of their debut album. Entries for the Sound of Young Scotland Award open on 25 July. The Modern Scottish Classic Award also returns; 2022's longlisted artists will select an iconic Scottish album, with Frightened Rabbit's Midnight Organ Fight winning the inaugural prize last year.
