Rachel Goswell – vocalist with resurgent shoegaze luminaries Slowdive – has joined forces with Mogwai guitarist Stuart Braithwaite, Editors guitarist Justin Lockey (formerly of Yourcodenameis:Milo) and his brother James on the project, with their first recorded effort A Hundred Ropes released today. Watch the video – created by the Lockey brothers – in the player below.

Minor Victories developed from a project devised by Justin Lockey, aiming to create a female vocal-led EP, with the guitarist saying: "We’ve stealthily made the record I always have wanted to make without me actually realizing it. " Describing the project's somewhat unusual origins, Braithwaite says: "Starting a band where some of the people have never met each other is something I’ve never heard of."

Minor Victories' self-titled debut album is out on 3 June; the four-piece have also announced details of their debut shows – they play Village Underground in London on 3 May, Thekla in Bristol on 4 May, Leeds Brudenell Social Club on 5 May, and the Art School in Glasgow on 6 May.
