Chappell Roan to play huge Edinburgh gig
American pop star Chappell Roan will be heading to Edinburgh this August for a huge gig at the Royal Highland Showgrounds
Few pop stars have gone from obscurity to A-list with quite the speed of Chappell Roan. Just last September, she was due to play a relatively small gig in Glasgow at St Luke’s. That's before the resurgent popularity of her fantastic 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and its singles like Red Wine Supernova and Hot to Go! rocketed her to superstardom.
That gig at St Luke’s was upgraded to the O2 Academy as Roan’s popularity grew, and it also quickly sold out. Such was the desperate frenzy for tickets online by the time the show took place on 15 September, Roan could have likely sold out the venue twice over.
It’s safe to say, Roan won’t be playing such an intimate venue anytime soon, but if you missed out on that now-fabled Glasgow gig, you have another chance to see her this summer as she’s coming to Edinburgh on 26 August to play at the Royal Highland Showgrounds at part of the Summer Sessions series.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 11 April. There are also several pre-sales happening. If you’re signed up to the Summer Sessions newsletter, you will be sent a code to access tickets from 9am on Wed 9 April, and Gigs in Scotland members have their pre-sale on Thursday 10 April.
