Having released their latest album Oh Master! in November, Glasgow’s post-punk-inspired four-piece Static Future are launching into 2019 with their latest single to be taken from the record, Big Decisions. The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the video for Big Decisions, an infectious and driving three minutes of indie-pop, complete with supremely enjoyable, albeit slightly awkward, dance moves from frontman Gavin Marshall.

"We were in the process of writing our album, and had hit a bit of a stumbling block," Marshall tells us of the single's inception. "When we began working on Big Decisions it was finished in only one or two sessions and we were immediately pleased with it. It was the first song on the album that had a vocal sound I was happy with and it made me return to previous tracks and rerecord them. It really formed our process and the album as a whole.

"In terms of the instruments in the song, everything came together very naturally. We were interested in not overplaying and to let the vocals take front and centre. The guitars really add texture and we were hoping to give the whole piece a conversational feel.

"I had recently proposed to my now wife and I had started to think about how big decisions are made. They don’t happen by chance or by believing in superstitions so the song is really about taking control to make good things happen.

"The video was recorded in our rehearsal space with the camera in one spot, with all of us playing and dancing about. We just really wanted something where we could have a bit of fun in the process and not take things too seriously."
