Ahead of the release of Paradise Palms Records’ latest compilation, Bonnie Tropical 4, The Skinny are delighted to be premiering Thinking With the Heart, the latest track from Gloria Black and Callum Govan, who together form Edinburgh electronic duo Maranta.

Having been a firm favourite in Maranta’s set for some time now, you can't help but imagine Thinking With the Heart soundtracking a hurried journey through the streets of Tokyo, or somewhere similarly cosmopolitan.

We're thrilled the song is getting its release via another splendidly curated Bonnie Tropical effort, and even more so that we’re able to give you first listen, which you can do so in the below SoundCloud player (click here if it’s not displaying correctly).

Of the song's inception, Maranta tell us: "The lyrics were inspired by Gloria's trip to New York, feeling ripped off, and noticing the disparity between poverty and wealth. We wanted to create an energy with the fast tempo and the bright arpeggiated synths that uplifted and empowered, despite the lyrical theme: to value joy and love over material wealth.”

As well as featuring this track from Maranta, other artists found on Bonnie Tropical 4 include Makeness, Exterior, Cucina Povera and Callum Easter’s new F*KO project, among others. "We're so proud to be a part of this compilation alongside these other great artists and genuine contemporary influences,” Maranta enthuse. “Contributing to the fantastic and vital work that Paradise Palms are doing, in supporting and promoting local artists, is such a great source of pride and gives us hope for the future."

Trystan O'brien from Paradise Palms adds: "We always aim to choose an eclectic bunch of records for these compilations but this track superbly exemplifies what we're about – trying to breathe a bit of sunshine into our gloomy worlds and smiling at strangers. From the off with Holy Loaf to Calum Easter's F*Ko project, Makeness, Main Ingredient's Movers International and right the way through to Cucina Povera and Bungalow, it’s a charismatic journey that we're always super proud to put together."

Bonnie Tropical 4 is released via Paradise Palms Records on 24 Jan
