The Edinburgh electronic duo of Callum Govan and Gloria Black, otherwise known as Maranta, first grabbed our attention when we caught them playing a Save Leith Walk fundraiser last year at Summerhall. The combination of dreamy synths, luscious beats and Black’s unique and captivating vocals lead to us inviting them to play our stage at this year’s Kelburn Garden Party without them having released any music yet.

But that’s all changed now and the pair are ready to release their debut single Radiate into the world – it’s a real treat and a total earworm. ''I think this track embodies everything we love about making music," Govan tells us. "One of our main aims as a band is to spread a positive message and hopefully the energy we bring, both in recordings and live performances, translates to the audience. If we can provide some catharsis, in a time when it seems we all need a little, we’ve accomplished what we set out to do.''

''We wanted to spread a positive message for people with Radiate," Black adds, "creating that feeling right from the core of our audience and creating a truly feel-good tune.''

Set for release via Edinburgh’s Paradise Palms label on Friday 26 April, and part of an upcoming EP expected later in the year, The Skinny are delighted to be giving you the first listen of Radiate, which you can do so in the player below (click here if it’s not displaying correctly).

Of Maranta, Aaron Main from Paradise Palms Records says: ''They're a treasure, not only musically and in performance, but through their lovely personalities too. These kind people deserve to be shouted about.''

Lungs at the ready!
