LUNIR – Wadidi (Track Premiere)

Listen to new single Wadidi from Cologne-based, Edinburgh duo LUNIR

Originally formed as a five-piece in 2015, LUNIR downsized last year to a more focused duo, comprised of Becky Sikasa and David Scobie. Between them they tackle complex vocal looping, guitar, drums, synths, keys and everything else in between.

Describing their sound as future soul, the Edinburgh-formed, Cologne-based duo combine laid-back R’n’B and soul with challenging percussive elements, woozy electronics and Sikasa’s effortlessly cool vocals. The Skinny are delighted to be premiering their latest single, Wadidi, which you can listen to in the SoundCloud player below (click here if it’s not displaying properly).

“Wadidi at its core is really simple,” Sikasa tells us. “It's about continuing to explore your independence and sense of self; particularly when you throw yourself headfirst into a relationship. That could be a romantic relationship, but to me it also makes sense in a working or creative context.”

Scobie adds: “Maybe it's a reminder to not let yourself be defined by those who surround you. But in an aggressively playful arrangement of NAO-inspired soul and Queen-influenced backing vocals.”

Wadidi is released on 16 Nov
