Edinburgh’s Errant Boy are guitarist Chris Harvie, drummer Sarrah McLaren and bassist/singer Sean Ormsby. Following on from their 2016 debut album, A Wayward Mirror, the three-piece are back with Memory Fractures due for release on 16 November via the Leith-based label ERRANT MEDIA.

Inspired by 80s guitar pop from the likes of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, The Go-Betweens, Felt and The Smiths, The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the music video for Errant Boy’s latest single, We Like You, which you can watch in the YouTube player above (click here if it’s not displaying correctly).

Filmed at St Margaret’s House, Meadowbank and Portobello beach, “We Like You came from a feeling of disenchantment with courting approval as a musician and chasing some kind of abstract success,” Ormsby tells us. “It marked the beginning of a determined DIY ethos for both the band and the label, Errant Media which I run with Stephen McLaren. We initiate releases and create live events to both suit ourselves and foster a sense of community around a collective of filmmakers, photographers and, of course, other musicians.

“The video, which was made by our talented friend Gregor Fergie (with help from Freda O’Byrne and Wendy Holyer), is apt because it was partly shot in St Margaret’s House, Meadowbank, a place which nurtures self-sufficiency and community. Like our favourite venue Leith Depot, its cultural value has somehow been monetised and made vulnerable. Edinburgh is at a high-profile crossroads in terms of venues and artistic spaces but people who feel compelled to make stuff will always resurface and re-emerge stronger.”

Memory Fractures is released on 16 Nov via ERRANT MEDIA; Errant Boy play The 13th Note, Glasgow, 23 Nov; Leith Depot, Edinburgh, 30 Nov
