Throughout the course of 2019, Glasgow-based singer, songwriter and producer Edwin Organ has been putting out easily some of the coolest pop of the year. On his series of Men EPs, which he has slowly been seeping out into the world, he takes a closer look at men and questions masculinity.

Men I and II have already been released, with part III due on 22 November. The lead single for the final chapter of Organ’s Men EPs comes in the form of Panning, which tackles the difficulties men have when it comes to embracing and giving affection; the serious topic given a sugary sheen through Organ’s signature woozy, angular pop stylings.

Organ tells us: “In society where platonic intimacy between men is often relegated to an overly firm handshake or a hug followed by an unnecessarily aggressive pat on the back, the second hand warmth of a toilet seat provides a great grounding moment of unguarded sincerity. As humble beings we can only perceive our reality in 3D.

“If we could transcend into the fourth dimension, merge time and space," he continues, "we would realise that we are all in fact connected in our vulnerabilities. United, cheek to cheek. When I explained this idea to the amazing Swatpaz he created a much needed family friendly version for what I was trying to convey. Buttmobile merch available soon.”

Released at the end of last week, The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the music video for Panning, created by the aforementioned Swatpaz, real name Davey Ferguson, a Glasgow-based freelance animator who also created the video for Pictish Trail’s recent comeback single, Slow Memories.
