Trash Talk @ Captain's Rest, 19 Nov

Article by Ryan Drever | 23 Nov 2010

With so many under-agers being turfed out, tonight's show isn't quite as mental as it could have been. Still, we're not complaining, and Brooklyn hardcore crew Cerebral Ballzy are a big reason why. In between drinking and crowd-surfing, vocalist Honor Titus swings from the PA, yelling about skating, partying and puking while the rest of the band remain a constant blur – blasting out chunk after chunk of urgent hardcore that harks back to the 'glory days'.

Soon after, Trash Talk dole out ominous drones before the arrival of vocalist Lee Spielman, who takes all of six seconds to incite chaos. Erupting in a melee of clenched fists, clashing bodies and skull-crushing blast-beats, the band do their best to destroy the crowd, while Spielman destroys himself. Orchestrating ridiculous circle pits, grappling damn near everyone in sight and screaming himself blind, he leads an impressive charge from the Sacramento wreckin' crew tonight. [Ryan Drever]
