Luminescent Orchestrii (SkinnyFest2)

never before have metallers, hippies and divas enjoyed the same gig so equally

Get them a cup of tea quick! Fast becoming a Spiegel mainstay at the Fringe, the Luminescent Orchestrii thow out a well-knotted lasso of gypsy folk punk with which to reel you in. A strange sense of dusky dinner-time anticipation hovers around the tent, but it doesn't put these two fiddles, bass and guitar off as they rock it. All a foot-stomping flavour, save a gorgeous final sad slow song, stand outs were first a traditional klezmer tune they admit they may have 'stolen' from Andy Statman which relaxed them all, and the funky hip hop Brooklyn folk song with beat-box and deep-south style, sexy harmonies. Not only do their instruments play effortlessly in their hands, but open their mouths and angels sing in chorus. The music makes your skin tingle and your eyes water, and never before have metallers, hippies and divas enjoyed the same gig so equally. (Sophie Kyle)
