Imogen Heap - The Arches, Glasgow - April 2

Heap's voice has the ability to shatter glass or lull you to sleep

Blessed with perhaps the best name ever, Imogen Heap is primarily known as
the singer from the now-defunct electronica pop duo Frou Frou. Heap's voice has the ability to shatter glass or lull you to sleep depending on how she's feeling, and tonight she kept the audience transfixed right from the start of this gig, despite some technical hitches. She appeared on stage with no band, just a laptop, vocoder and beatbox, which she managed to impressively control all by herself. Most of the tracks performed were from her latest album 'Speak for Yourself', including the brilliant forthcoming single Goodnight and Go, a bittersweet love song about wanting someone so badly you follow them home at night, which Heap somehow pulls off without sounding like a crazed stalker. The crowd was also treated to a slow version of Let Go, featured on the Garden State soundtrack, which was worth the ticket price alone. [Emily Henderson]
