Eoghan Colgan @ Oran Mor

Preaching to the converted and the reception undisputed and supported

Article by Xavier Jones Barlow | 10 Jul 2007
Oran Mor is packed tonight. Fresh from bagging the O2 Undiscovered Competition, this Glasgow based Northern Irishman wants to thank his loyal following at what he calls his 'Crossroads gig'. Mr Colgan will be taking a year off his day job as a doctor to see if his musical career will come to anything. Since everybody in attendance is there to see him, he is preaching to the converted and the reception is undisputed. This does not stop Colgan from putting on one hell of a performance. Sensitive and sublime, it is not just the music, songwriting or good looks that will take him to higher places but also his heartfelt humility - it feels like he individually thanks every single person in the crowd. If he can avoid any unjust comparisons to Damien Rice and continue to build his fan base, there is no telling where Colgan might be a year from this point. [Xavier Jones Barlow]
