The Gaslight Anthem @ Garage, 3 Dec

Article by Jason Morton | 16 Nov 2008

Looking like the kind of bad boys that wary mothers warn their daughters about – replete with tattoos and leather jackets – and sounding like Bruce Springsteen’s nephews who spent as much time with punk records as their Uncle’s canon, The Gaslight Anthem bring their brand of no-frills rock to Glasgow’s Garage 3 December. The New Jersey natives, who would be well placed alongside the gruff punk of Against Me! or narrative rock of The Hold Steady, have been raising eyebrows in the States, and have now set their sights on Scotland. The band’s second LP, The ’59 Sound, shows a maturing sound, but concertgoers should anticipate punk-rock vigor in their live performance. [Jason Morton]
