Metal Up Your Ass - June 2007

Beckon forth the sun and all its pleasures... with metal.

And with June came… more rock! Metal Up Your Ass beckons forth the sun and all its pleasures with more heavy hitting thrash / metal / hardcore / grind / emo / post-metal /experimental recommendations.

For instance, you could jaunt along to Edinburgh Subway Cowgate on the 3rd for burning hot hardcore duo Iron Lung, over from Seattle with a blasting, technical show under the CDH community banner.

A considerably more mainstream option is on the June menu with Machine Head topping a Carling Academy bill with Lamb of God and Chimaira in Glasgow on Thursday the 7th, while it's throwback thrash metal with Megadeth at the Barrowlands on Tuesday the 12th.

A rather fine year so far for Bossk has seen the Ashford quintet tour with Cult of Luna, sign a new distro deal and begin work on a first full-length release. Their epic, soar-away post-metal will be a highlight of the month when they head up a lengthy bill - including Manatees, Gas Giant and Alrosa - at Henry's Cellar Bar in Edinburgh on the 17th.

A literal 'must-see' this month will be Eiger on the 20th, touring for the first and last time before they split up! Unfortunately, at time of going to press, the venue has yet to be decided but it will be in Edinburgh and support comes from Tigers!: keep an eye on www.myspace.com/packinwowlin and www.thankyouforcavingmyheadin.com for developments from the brilliant English avant-rockers.
