Gigs in Edinburgh this week

Ded Rabbit @ Sneaky Pete's, 24 Oct
Local lads Ded Rabbit have released a string of well-received EPs over the last few years, their music influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Interpol and The Libertines, and this week they're playing a duo of shows at Sneaky Pete's and The Hug & Pint (25 Oct). Make sure you're at least one of them.

Rip It Up Remixed @ Summerhall, 25 Oct
Reworking songs from popular Scottish artists and performing them in the style of a Scottish band from another era, students of Napier University are putting on a disco with a twist. If you've ever wondered what CHVRCHES would sound like as punk rockers – and who hasn't – this is the event for you.

Haiku Hands @ The Mash House, 25 Oct
Electro-hip-hop collective Haiku Hands have made waves in their home country of Australia, and with good reason – blending together dance, pop and rave, their music is a bracing shock to the system. Catch them at The Mash House tonight where they're sure to bring that same energy in spades.

First Aid Kit @ Usher Hall, 26 Oct
Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg have been steadily releasing excellent indie folk over the past decade, with this year's Ruins possibly their strongest album yet. After an excellent performance at the O2 Academy in Glasgow earlier in the year, the duo are headed to Edinburgh's Usher Hall this week. This one's not to be missed.

RM Hubbert & Aidan Moffat @ Pleasance Theatre, 26 Oct
In May, RM Hubbert and Aidan Moffat released their debut collaborative album, Here Lies the Body, to thrilling effect. Featuring the undeniably beautiful vocals of Siobhan Wilson (who'll also be in attendance tonight), it's a stunning listen so tonight's show is not to be missed.

Adrena Adrena @ Henry's Cellar Bar, 26 Oct
A collaboration between visual artist Daisy Dickinson & drummer E-Da Kazuhisa, Adrena Adrena blends together drums, noise and organic visual work. Catch them at Henry's Cellar Bar tonight with support from Mndmth (Stu Brown), Joe Coghill and Diljeet Bhachu.

CRYSTAL @ Sneaky Pete's, 26 Oct
Glasgow grunge/punk four-piece CRYSTAL make a triumphant return to Sneaky's this week, following a terrific gig at the venue earlier in the year. With their palpable chemistry and infectious energy, they're sure to deliver another unmissable set.

Sam Amidon @ Pleasance Theatre, 27 Oct
If you're into your folk head down to the Pleasance on Saturday, where singer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon will be delivering Americana songs with a twist.

Posable Action Figures Halloween Show @ Sneaky Pete's, 28 Oct
Local lads Posable Action Figures are launching their brand new single Inhaler (it's a banger btw) tonight at Sneaky's and it's doubling up as a spooky Halloween show. Good way to spend your Sunday evening we say.

Scottish Alternative Music Awards @ Saint Luke's, Glasgow, 25 Oct
For nine years, all aspects of Scottish music have been celebrated and awarded at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, more commonly known as the SAMAs. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Jim Gellatly and Laura Boyd, and will feature live performances from Blanck Mass, The Vegan Leather and more, with all the usual awards given out on the night.

Gigs in Glasgow this week

The KVB @ The Hug & Pint, Glasgow, 24 Oct
After impressing us at La Route du Rock in Saint Malo, France, we can’t wait to catch The KVB on home turf. The Berlin-based duo recently played Robert Smith’s Meltdown Festival, and this month they're set to release their sixth album, Only Now Forever, via Geoff Barrow of BEAK> and Portishead's Invada Records label. If the singles released from the album so far (On My Skin and Above Us) are anything to go by, then you’d be daft not to get yourself along to The Hug for this one.

Goat Girl @ Stereo, 26 Oct
Relatively fresh from releasing their self-titled debut album via Rough Trade, south London quartet Goat Girl hit Glasgow's Stereo tonight with support from Sneaks and Edinburgh Leisure.

Lucy Dacus @ Mono, Glasgow, 26 Oct
On her sophomore album, Historian, Virginia-born Lucy Dacus bears her soul across its ten songs; from the brutal honesty of a failing relationship on album opener Night Shift (‘You got a nine to five, so I’ll take the night shift / I’ll never see you again if I can help it’), to its heart-wrenching closing title track (‘Then one day, the motorcade… Will come to take one of us away’), it’s a sheer delight and easy to get obsessed with. Her boygenius EP, from her band of the same name alongside Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers, is also out next month so lots to celebrate.

Fiskur @ The Hug & Pint, 27 Oct
The solo moniker of Three Blind Wolves' Ross Clark, catch Fiskur at The Hug & Pint tonight before he heads off on tour with We Were Promised Jetpacks next month. Support comes from French rockers Lafayette Regency and Glasgow's Atlas Run.

Mario Biondi @ Òran Mór, 28 Oct
After his Scottish debut last year, Italian singer and composer Mario Biondi returns for two nights only: tonight at Òran Mór and tomorrow (29 Oct) at Edinburgh's Voodoo Rooms.

Any Other @ The Hug & Pint, 28 Oct
Following the release of her sophomore album Two, Geography, Milan-based Adele Nigro is bringing her emotive indie-rock to The Hug & Pint tonight. Support comes from The Tongue Trap and Death Bed.

Eleanor Friedberger @ Broadcast, 29 Oct
In May, Eleanor Friedberger released her fourth solo album, Rebound, swathed in chilly synths, drum machines and muted guitars. Catch her tonight at Glasgow's Broadcast or in Edinburgh the following night (30 Oct) at Sneaky Pete's.

Teenage Fanclub @ Barrowlands, 29-31 Oct
This could be one of your last chances to catch Teenage Fanclub complete with founding member Gerard Love in tow – be sure to head along for one, if not all three Barrowlands shows this week. On this tour they're celebrating their Creation Records years so do everything in your power to snag a ticket.
