Resident Advisors: Lara Sinclair
We get the lowdown on Edinburgh highlights from a local DJ, promoter and actual Resident Advisor employee
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Lara, I work in marketing and A&R at Paradise Palms Records. I DJ and run my own club night, Chromatic, at The Bongo Club and I am the City Manager for Edinburgh for Resident Advisor.
What’s been a highlight of the last 12 months for you?
Definitely beginning my role at RA, it’s made me feel so much closer to the scene in Edinburgh and it's been a privilege to represent my city. More recently working on the new Bonnie Tropical Compilation with Palms records. I’ve discovered so much incredible homegrown talent.
What’s coming up in the future for you?
In the near future, I am playing on The Saloon Bar at Kelburn Garden Party with my best friend, I cannot wait! Further ahead, who knows? I’m always ready for a challenge though!
Where do you recommend people go in Edinburgh?
The Water of Leith is one of my favourite walks on a sunny day, or a stroll around the Botanics. Cowgate of course is my favourite for a night out but my top three venues would be Sneaky Pete’s, Bongo and Cab Vol Cafe!
Favourite place to eat?
Ka Pao, Lucky Yu and PIGGS – I’m a sucker for a small plates menu.
Favourite place to drink?
The Tourmalet in Leith, Victoria Leith and The Gilded Saloon.
Favourite shop?
Underground Solution and Vinyl Villains. You have to pry me out of Space NK as well.
Why do you like living here?
The community! I’ve made so many amazing friends. I also love that Edinburgh has that big city feel but you can still get from A to B with ease.
What annoys you about living here?
The unpredictability of the weather makes planning a day out a bit more tricky!
Do you have an Edinburgh festivals survival tip?
Electrolytes.
