His Name Is Tim
Tim Is His Name, Lucky In Love Is Not His Game
His Name Is Tim sees Thomas J Millington take on the characters Tim: a 14 year-old with an over-active imagination and Tim: a 24 year-old with no future ambitions. The work is a mixture of live music and singing, physical theatre and some really great acting. The story take us through a journey of a teenagers' crushes to an adult's dissatisfaction with his job and his boss. What's quite charming about this is that I can't help thinking that the 14 year-old Tim's numerous crushes and desire for romance are all too similar to many adults desires for romance and something magical, the growth from teenage to adult doesn't mean you get any luckier in love or have different fundamental desires.
Millington seamlessly weaves from scene to scene and from character to character and there's a distinct difference between each, even the 24 year -old Tim still has a little of his 14 year-old self still in him; nervous body language and still no luck with the girls.
There were a few fluffed lines and a show of nerves as a result but Millington recovers quickly and sucks us back into the story with some emotionally compelling playing on the guitar and singing and energetic bursts of physicality.
Romantic, intimate, charming and universal in its themes, His Name Is Tim is perfect for those in search of warmth and a good story.
