The Producer of `Cento Cose` reviews the reviews

Feature by Stefania Bochicchio | 25 Aug 2010

Do believe when they tell you that coming to the Fringe is expensive: it is, and you have to be frugal and plan well if you have no financial support from earthly or heavenly angels.

Do believe that flyering works, especially if you manage to target the haunts of your most likely pundits and can work on a quick and effective patter to be delivered (a performance in its own right) at a fax-like speed. Would be ideal if information could be downloaded directly onto the minds of potential theatre-goers, but, alas that thought belongs to the Matrix Fringe.

Do not believe that reviews are the make or break of your show. Or better, maybe rave reviews can help you, but bad reviews have to be taken in with Teflon-coating aplomb.

Our show Cento Cose got a one star from the Scotsman on day one then, in this blessed age of the internet, three people who had come to the show retorted online and gave us five stars each.

We have done two sold outs so far and been playing constantly to three quarter full houses. The moral: believe in the integrity of your work, everybody’s opinion counts for one person only.
