Listen: Cloud Sounds with Irvine Welsh, Daedelus, Youth Lagoon and more

Article | 24 Jan 2014

This week's Cloud Sounds playlist from The Skinny focuses on the new compilation curated by Edinburgh's Transgressive North, under the banner of the Everything is New project. The organisers have released two albums, the proceeds of which will be donated to Scottish Love In Action, a charity that seeks to feed, clothe, house and educate destitute children in India.

The two albums released are Sun Choir by Marram, their debut, featuring guest vocalists, musicians and lyrical contributors such as Jarvis Cocker, doseone and Irvine Welsh (who can be heard together, in a track included below). The second album, BOATS, is a compilation, featuring contributions from the likes of Rustie, Son Lux, Deerhoof, Four Tet and many more. It's a fantastic compilation for a worthy cause – and Marram's debut is equally enthralling. We recommend you get yourself over to their Bandcamp page, and support the cause.

Also featuring alongside three tracks from the Everything Is New albums are new songs from Brainfeeder / Anticon experimentalist Daedelus, taken from his soundtrack to the videogame Nidhogg; Dublin's techno-influenced rockers Girl Band; psychedelic electro-folk troubadour Youth Lagoon; and Edinburgh-based, rap-influenced singer and Young Fathers affiliate LAW.

Enjoy! And follow The Skinny on Soundcloud to keep track with our weekly Cloud Sounds favourites.
