The Sizzling Scot

Since being in Edinburgh I haven't encountered steak of the same standard

Dalry Road isn't known for its fine dining, and Edinburgh isn't famous for its steaks, but The Sizzling Scot defies both trends with quality food and service. My dining partner and I chose seafood starters – the fact that I wasn't allowed near her prawn cocktail suggested it was delicious, while the enormous plate of mussels I ordered was fresh tasting with a creamy white wine sauce that helped enhance the strong flavour. For our mains we both went for fillet steaks - if you're going somewhere renowned for its Aberdeen Angus why choose anything else? The meat was succulent, juicy and wonderfully presented as a huge meal with onion rings, mash, tomatoes and mushrooms. The price was a step above many other restaurants, but not at all surprising; since being in Edinburgh I haven't encountered steak of the same standard. For a celebration or special occasion you can't go wrong with a booking at the Sizzling Scot. [Xavier Toby]
