Hen of the Woods, the kitchen team behind The Glad Cafe and The Hug and Pint in Glasgow, are set to host free Christmas dinners at both venues for "anyone who might need some company, can't afford a big Christmas dinner, or doesn't have a place to go."

Open to everyone, volunteers will serve a full Christmas dinner – consisting of veggie haggis and all the trimmings – from midday until 5pm on 25 December.

On Friday 21 December, The Glad Cafe will also host a charity vegan Christmas Dinner. The event is pay-by-donation, with all proceeds going to mental health charity Flourish House.

If you are looking for a way to help those less fortunate this Christmas, Scottish enterprise Social Bite are accepting £5 donations, which will pay for Christmas dinner or a gift for homeless children, families and individuals across Scotland, Newcastle and Manchester.
