New food market to open in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle

The folk behind Independent Liverpool have announced their latest venture: a food market housed in a warehouse space in the Baltic Triangle’s iconic Cains brewery.

After launching four years ago as a small blog, Independent Liverpool has expanded to incorporate everything from a discount card to food and drink events – including popular large-scale festivals in Sefton Park – and now they’re bringing it all together with Baltic Market.

Billed as a place to “eat, drink and dance”, the market will welcome some of the city’s best food, with up to 10 food traders each week that will change on a monthly basis. These will include established Liverpool businesses, street food traders and a few of Independent Liverpool’s own concepts, the latter of which will aim to function as a food incubator for newly qualified chefs from local colleges and/or budding restauranteurs who might want to trial their ideas before committing to bricks and mortar.

There will also be a cocktail bar, local beers, live music and DJs, with hopes to host events such as farmers’ markets, cinema nights and quizzes as the market beds in.

Due to open this summer, the free-entry market will be open four days a week.
