Explore Your City with Forever Edinburgh's Resident Rewards
From dungeons to distilleries to delicious dinners, Resident Rewards – Forever Edinburgh's programme of discounts and offers for Edinburgh locals – has something for everyone
There’s a reason that people love to visit Edinburgh. Actually, there’s loads of reasons – the history, the nature, the architecture, the hospitality, the beautiful views. For visitors, it’s great, but it is a little different when you have to combine all that fun stuff with your everyday life in the city. Fortunately, Forever Edinburgh’s Resident Rewards programme is here to help EH residents make the very most of the city they call home and explore everything it has to offer.
Resident Rewards is now in its fifth year, and the clue’s in the name: these are exclusive deals and offers (rewards, if you will) for EH postcode residents. They’re a perk that allows you to become a tourist in your own town, offering you the chance to eat, play, relax and experience your city through new eyes. If you live in Edinburgh, you’re sorted – there’s no membership or sign-up required to access the deals.
If you’re looking for something new and intriguing, try the series of Hands On deals. With its mix of outdoor green spaces and big city living, Edinburgh’s full of activities and things to do that encourage you to get moving and/or get your hands dirty – here’s a chance for EH residents to try some of the capital’s most exciting and engaging days out. The Johnnie Walker Experience on Princes Street presents a unique take on the whisky tour across its many floors, and EH residents get 20% an immersive experience via Resident Rewards. Fancy something a bit more active? Head to Dalkeith and Go Ape, the outdoor adventure wonderland with rope climbing, zip lines and archery tag (it’s like a cross between Robin Hood and a game of dodgeball). There’s a 15% discount on offer as part of Resident Rewards.
After all that, you’ll be feeling a bit peckish. The Epic Eats deals give you the chance to try some of the venues that have made Edinburgh such a foodie hotspot in recent years, even topping Good Food Guide’s list of Most Exciting Food Destinations last year. If you’re with a big group, the enormous New York-style pizzas at Civerinos are a great option – get 10% off all full-sized pizzas from Monday to Thursday (excluding August) when you sit in at their spots in Leith, Stockbridge, Portobello and the city centre, as well as the Lost Shore Surf Resort. Tamil Teru’s another great spot for a catch-up dinner; the South Indian and Sri Lankan restaurant on Rose Street is all about sharing and trying new things, and you’ll get a 20% discount on your food bill via Resident Rewards. And if you fancy a pub lunch, check out Mackays On The Mile or the Amber Rose on Rose Street for 20% and 10% off respectively.
The Chill Out deals are opportunities to take it easy, and enjoy some of Edinburgh’s more relaxing and luxurious experiences. If you really want to relax into it, head to PURE Spa on Lothian Road for 20% off all of their core treatments, or up to Morningside and check out Sano Studio. They offer yoga, pilates and strength classes for both adults and young people, as well as massages and beauty treatments – you can get 50% off your first treatment or class via Resident Rewards. Or if your idea of a relaxing afternoon is a wander around a lovely whisky distillery, we have just the thing. The delightful Holyrood Distillery in the shadow of the Crags run exclusive free Resident Rewards tours every Sunday afternoon – get a guided tour around their space and find out all about their whisky-making process.
Of course, one of the real joys of living in Edinburgh is its array of unexpected and one-of-a-kind places to go and things to do; it’s a city like no other, and the Curious Minds rewards let you make the very most of some of those one-offs. Edinburgh’s a city with an amazing history that occasionally veers into the macabre – find out more about it at the Edinburgh Dungeon, where you’ll get 30% off with your EH postcode. It’s also right by the water, so head to South Queensferry and hop on the Maid of the Forth. The sightseeing boat gives you the chance to cruise out to the Forth Bridges and the Queensferry Crossing, or take an extended jaunt to Inchcolm Island, and there’s 20% off both excursions via Resident Rewards. Or if you really want to go for it, take in the Edinburgh Nuclear Bunker Tour at Barnton Quarry. The Cold War-era bunker was at one time intended to house Scotland’s government in the event of a nuclear war; after a painstaking restoration by a team of dedicated volunteers, it now offers a truly unique trip into Edinburgh’s past. Get 25% off a guided tour with Resident Rewards.
There are also Legend of the Month deals offering bumper discounts – 30% off the Highlands Tour at Lauriston Castle this August, while September brings free entry to Camera Obscura for kids when accompanied by an adult – and regular Resident Days offering free or deeply discounted experiences across the city. There’s so much to see and do in Edinburgh – let Resident Rewards encourage you to explore your city, and everything that makes it great.
