Watch Avengers do battle in Edinburgh’s Waverley Station
Chris Evans’ Captain America and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow kick arse against some Infinity War bad guys in the first proper glimpse of a scene shot in Edinburgh from the third Avengers movie
Back in March last year, several Marvel superheroes descended on Edinburgh to shoot some scenes for a sequence set in the Scottish capital for the upcoming third Avengers film, Infinity War. Among the cast members reported to be filming in the city were Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Elizabeth Olsen (The Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany (Vision). When the first Infinity War trailer dropped, there was no Edinburgh Castle or Walter Scott monument to be seen, however, and when an extended clip of Avengers was shown in the city last month, there was no sign of Auld Reekie either.
Here we have it, though, the first proper clip of some of the action filmed in the city. Taking place in Waverley Station – where we're sure some of our readers have seen a scrap or two take place – the scene is basically a punch-up between a few of The Avengers and a couple of members of The Black Order, the team of goons who do the bidding of Infinity War’s chief bad guy Thanos, played by Josh Brolin.
In the short clip, we see Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon make quick work of their opponents. “We don’t want to kill you, but we will,” Johansson's Black Widow says coldly to her broken opponents. Fighting Thanos might be a different story, we suspect.
Take a look at the footage, which featured in an interview with Mackie on US network ABC's breakfast schmoozefest Good Morning America, at the 3m 28s mark of the video in the player above or on the GMA YouTube channel.
