Stranger Things is back with epic season 3 trailer

It may be summertime, but, as usual, something dark and sinister is going on in Hawkins, Indiana. Presumably only Eleven, Mike, Dustin and the gang can stop it

Sun is out in Hawkins, Indiana. There’s a shiny new mall, the town’s outdoor pool is open for business, it’s Fourth of July weekend, but don’t count on friends Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb Mclaughlin) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) having a fun time.

Teen turmoil looks like it’s going to play a major part of this third season of the hugely popular horror show. Despite being set in the summer of 1985, the epic first trailer is scored by The Who’s 1971 song Baba O'Riley. Teenage Wasteland indeed.

Since Season 2, there have been growth spurts and romances blossoming, so things might not be the same for this tight-knit group in Season 3. "We're not kids anymore,” says Finn Wolfhard’s Mike in the trailer. “I mean, what did you think? We we would just sit in my basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?"

There are plenty of other things to be concerned with too, beyond teenage hormones and friend fallouts. A creepy dude with a flat-top is stalking town with a silenced gun, Eleven is still finding herself back in the Upside Down, and there’s a horrible slimy monster that makes the demogorgon look like a pussy cat.

The full trailer also features Joyce (Winona Ryder) looking terrified, Hopper (David Harbour) looking relaxed in a Hawaiian shirt, Natalia Dyer’s Nancy and Charlie Heaton’s Jonathan looking pensive as they investigate something down at the local paper and fan favourite Steve (Joe Keery) looking adorkable as he rekindles his sweet big brother-like friendship with Dustin.
