T in the Park: the blog o' death episode IV

Damian Lazarus (who, despite appearance, name and sonics, isn't French - the man's a broad Cockney) proved a fitting early booking for the Slam tent. His set, which sat comfortably between minimal techno, deep house and electro, was laid-back enough to serve as a suitable warm up, but complex and imaginative enough to keep punters interested. Lazarus's style of music can veer dangerously close to a kind of 'Radio 2 techno', but by the climax of the set, he's nailing it and Slam looks set to go.

Our group has already enjoyed some low-end festival randomness: a guy came over and spoke to us for about fifteen minutes; then, as if everything was well within his frame of comprehension, asked: 'I wonder when my mate's going to get back with all of our beers?' No mate or beers had been previously seen or mentioned, and he wandered off having gradually realised he (and we too) had no idea who we were talking to.

Let the good times roll...
