Festival season is almost upon us, and ahead of The Skinny’s music festival special in our April issue, there’s some exciting news coming out of Jupiter Rising. The artist-led outdoor festival for art, music and performance – which will take place 26 to 28 August at the art park just outside Edinburgh – has revealed that Young Fathers’ Alloysious Massaquoi and Hen Hoose’s Tamara Schlesinger will act as Guest Curators.

“I’m excited for the crowd to experience the creative work of the artists I’ve chosen,” said Massaquoi. “My advice to them is: come ready, be open and take a chance.”

Schlesinger is similarly hyped, and particularly excited to showcase a more diverse lineup than your typical summer music festival. “We are taking this opportunity to highlight some incredibly talented female and non-binary artists in Scotland," she says. “It feels refreshing to be involved in putting together such a diverse and gender-balanced line up at a festival.”

Some of the artists who’ll be playing the iconic landscape of Jupiter Artland have also been announced this morning. Scottish favourites like Emma Pollock, MALKA, AMUNDA, Poster Paints, Susan Bear, Jayda and Djana Gabrielle will be on the bill. From further afield, there’s also South African duo Distruction Boyz, Dublin-based soul jazz pioneer Dylema, and Hackney-born rising star Mychelle. Mychelle’s fellow Londoner and The Fish Police frontman Dean Rodney Jr rounds off the first wave of artists announced this morning.

Jupiter Rising tickets are available now, starting at £95 including 2 nights camping. Head to jupiterrising.art for more details
