Hidden Door are in the process of preparing the former Royal High School on Calton Hill to host this year’s festival. We can’t wait to see the transformation, which will see the long-unused building’s various spaces filled with creative art and performance, running from 9 to 18 June. And we’re even more excited this morning as many of this year’s music acts have just been announced.

We're told there will be four music spaces spread across the Old Royal High School: a large outdoor stage, an indoor stage, a basement stage and a Pianodrome stage. Looking at the lineup, expect pretty much every genre of music to be represented over the festival’s ten days.

Performing on that outdoor stage will be 90s indie-dance pioneers Saint Etienne, soul-pop singer Yellow Days, post-punks Dry Cleaning, modern instrumentalists Portico Quartet, Edinburgh music collective Tinderbox Orchestra, alternative folk rock collective This is the Kit, and post punk electronic group Warmduscher.

Electro-punk solo artist LoneLady, London electronic group Real Lies, six-piece alt-rock band The Joy Hotel, Scottish hip-hop mainstay Billy Got Waves and genre-hopping dance band PVA are the acts set to play the indoor space. Downstairs in the basement there’ll be a rolling roster of talent being showcased. Record label Hobbes Music, Edinburgh radio station EHFM and women and non-binary DJ collective Sisu will take turns programming this stage's lineups. There's also another collaboration between Maranta, Chell Young, VOMITON and Hannah Draper after their collaboration at 2021's Hidden Door.

At the Pianodrome, meanwhile, you’ll find a lineup of experimental music featuring the likes of improvised group S!nk and producer The Reverse Engineer, as well as a showcase from OK Pal Records.

The other names mentioned on Hidden Door’s huge list of acts include the likes of Makeness, Lizabett Russo, Future Get Down, Broken Records, Proc Fiskal, Jacuzzi General and a whole host of other artists too exhaustive to include here.
