The mighty Doune the Rabbit Hole festival will be returning to Cardross Estate in Port of Menteith this July and its first wave of acts suggests we're in for a fun time. The first band to catch our eye on today's announcement is Glasgow outfit Belle & Sebastian, who'll headline the Saturday night. We're told this will be the only chance to see this much-loved Scottish band on home turf this Summer.

Belle & Sebastian, who are fresh from releasing their original soundtrack for indie movie Days of the Bagnold Summer, should bring some sunny summer vibes to Doune. If you're after something of a darker flavour, however, look no further than the bold, provocative Moscow-based activist art collective Pussy Riot, who'll be taking a break from defying Putin’s regime back home to bring their explosive show to Stirlingshire.

Doune's line-up is nothing if not eclectic, as the third band announced today proves: Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. The legendary 1960s girl group started as Marvin Gaye's backup singers before turning into Motown superstars in their own right with bangers like Nowhere to Run, Heatwave and Dancing in the Street.

Other highlights from today's pleasingly diverse announcement (someone tell TRNSMT it's not that hard) include London lo-fi pop trio Girl Ray, Stornoway band Peat & Diesel, Bristol electro swing nine-piece Cut Capers, Scottish new wave faves who are young at heart, The Bluebells, Celtic fusion band Peatbog Faeries, kick ass indie-pop trio Peaness, Glasgow up-and-comers Wet Look, London post-punk outfit Dry Cleaning, and nine-piece ska group Esperanza, among others.

Doune the Rabbit Hole takes place at Cardross Estate, Port of Menteith, Stirling, 17-19 Jul
