Glasgow Film Festival returns in February and March, and following the announcement of this year's opening and closing films earlier this month, we have some more exciting news to share with you from GFF Towers.

Days of the Bagnold Summer, the directorial debut from Simon Bird, will have its Scottish premiere at GFF on 4 March at 6pm. The film stars Earl Cave as a teenage thrash metal fan spending his summer holidays with his mild-mannered librarian mother, played by Monica Dolan. The film – whose supporting cast includes Tim Key, Alice Lowe, Tasmin Greig and Rob Brydon – is based on the 2012 graphic novel of the same name by Joff Winterheart.

The film also has a particular Glaswegian connection, with its soundtrack provided by Belle and Sebastian. The soundtrack, which you can listen to in full via Spotify, features reworked versions of tracks from the band's back catalogue as well as a host of new music.

Tickets for Days of the Bagnold Summer go on sale to Glasgow Film Festival members at noon on Thu 30 Jan, and go on general sale on Mon 3 Feb, 10am.
