Following his sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and having supported Ricky Gervais on some of his tour dates, Bennett brings his new show to Glasgow

Most important question first: Tell us about your show.

My show, JEWELSH, deals unsurprisingly with the fact I am both Jewish and Welsh, and how being Jewish and Welsh means I’m never quite sure why I’m being beaten up.

What's going to be unique about this performance of your show?

Unlike the other performances I have done, this one will be performed in Glasgow.

Due to a lawsuit, you're forced to rename your show. What do you call it?

Anthony Hopkins Lit My Grandparents’ Fire.

If your show was a dear friend who had just died, what would you say about it in your eulogy?

“What can I say about JEWELSH that hasn’t already been said in four star reviews? It lived as it died, in front of people laughing.”

What inspires you, other than comedy itself?

The impossible quest to achieve perfection.

Is there anything in particular that you're looking forward to about playing in Glasgow?

I’ve always enjoyed playing clubs in Glasgow and I had a lot of fun at the festival last year. I believe the audience did too, but I didn’t like to ask.

Or anything you're dreading?

The state of my liver.

Where do you stand on Scottish Independence?

On a chair in the centre of the room.

Who would get your vote as president of an independent Scotland?

The shortest person

What's your favourite comedy festival in the world?

Glasgow. (Please note this answer differs in relation to the festival I am about to play)

If you were organising a fantasy comedy night, who would you have as MC, support and main act?

The MC’s would be Morecambe and Wise, the support would be Dave Allen and the main act would be Tommy Cooper. (I’ll do a 5 minute spot if there’s time).

Who else are you going to see during the Glasgow Festival?

I’m not sure how much time I’ll have but I hope to see Martin Mor’s show.
