Imagine I Am Smiling - Skinnyfest 1

Imaginary Theatre Company are waiting. On a bench, deep in their cave venue, on a station platform somewhere, could be anywhere. Waiting for a train that might never come, waiting to strike up conversation with each other, waiting for you to eavesdrop as if you're waiting with them on another bench, just along the platform.

It's a familiar scene, with familiar women: a delayed train, an office worker, a traveller, a student running late and stilted small talk with strangers to pass the time. But as time stretches along the tracks into the horizon, with no sign of the delayed 14.48 service to Dovey junction appearing over it, April, May and June keep waiting as the conversation weaves in and out of each others' lives.

Between the comic moments of a game of I Spy and a more serious exploration of the interaction between strangers are a trio of vividly different characters strongly portrayed by the three actresses. Although there are a few moments when you too find yourself wondering if the train will ever arrive, mostly, for once your are happy just to wait it out.
